The title says it all. I recently acquired an Xbox One X, and decided to download Oblivion because I’ve been itching to play it. I’ve heard about the various “enhancements” Bethesda added via patch for the One X.
Problem is, this game runs like garbage. Even more so than what I recall on the 360. I guess what I’m trying to figure out here, is whether or not others are or have experienced this issue. I keep running across search results online suggesting it runs smooth and looks noticeably better, but truth be told the frame drops are making this game borderline unplayable for me.
Is this the result of poor optimization? Or part of their “enhancement”? I am not currently running my resolution in 4K and that seems to make little difference if any.
Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I appreciate all the suggestions guys! I’m still not home, but it seems that the best and only suggestion I’ve yet to try is the “performance mode” setting that a few users have already mentioned. I’ll add an update once I try that out.
Edit 2: just got home, set the setting to performance and it immediately resolved my issue. Thank you for the suggestions and help everyone.
Edit 3: I’ve tested Fallout 3 for about an hour now on an old save. Seems like the ideal game to compare given the similarities (engine, backwards comp, x enhance, same dev, etc) and I’ve yet to hit any snags. However, I have noticed that my X makes a very very light winding noise. Seems like it could either just be the coils doing their thing, or a potential issue. The only thing left for me to do here I guess is to test more games, but if anyone else has any sort of suggestion/feedback id appreciate it immensely. Thank you again to those that have responded and have tried to help.
